1980 was the year that Pacman was first introduced to arcades. Being born in the (late) 80′s, I still feel some sort of nostalgia when I play it- for example- when Google made it’s web search into a mini game- that was classic.
When I decided to do this manicure, I thought of it myself but it occurred to me that someone may have already done it! I checked online and in fact, other people have done Pacman manicures. BUT, I didn’t look at their designs for ideas- I did my own. Therefore, I credit the original creators or Pacman for this and no one else. I must say though, those of you who have already done it (and those who wrote a tutorial on how to do it) made it look so easy. I suppose most nail art is that way :-)
For this manicure, I used one coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat, two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black, a mix of Orly La Playa and Sally Hansen’s Blue Me Away! for the blue, Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud for the white, OPI’s The It Color for Pacman, a mix of OPI’s The It Color and Nicole by OPI’s Deeply in Love for the orange ghost, Nicole By OPI’s Deeply in Love for the red ghost, and Claire’s Neon Pink for the pink ghost. I used two coats Seche Vite to top it off.
This was a fun manicure but I had a few problems. One, Claire’s Pink doesn’t want to spread well when doing nail art, so pink ghosty looks a little, different. Also, Sally Hansen’s Blue Me Away! didn’t want to spread either so the blue was a bit gloopy and wouldn’t make straight lines. It’s all good though, I knew better than to use it and I used it anyway. I love the color but I just can’t handle the formula. See how the googly eyes look at Pacman? Cool, right?
Keep a lookout for goodies to come in the near future! The giveaway ends Friday Night, OPI’s Burlesque Collection will be out soon and you’ll be able to see my swatches here, and I have some really neat-o designs for you all in the coming days. Stay tuned!
