I was really excited to get my hands on some beautiful colors and effects by CND recently. I’ve never previously been able to play with their products so I couldn’t wait- and let me tell you they didn’t disappoint!
I did a quick stucco/abstract design that reminded me a bit of another quick design I did ages ago but hestitated on posting. Regardless, I really enjoyed working with these shades. Let me just say that I used a bunch of effects but you can’t see much of them here because of the angle and as such, I’ll be doing ANOTHER, much more refined design with these polishes in the very near future!
For this design I used OPI Nail Envy as a base, followed by an amazing one coater of CND Miss Wu. I then used a small brush (But NOT my regular one- don’t want to ruin it) to sort of sponge/smudge different shades on. I used (all CND) Midnight Sapphire, Scarlet Letter, Plumville, Dark Amethyst, Raisin in the Sun, Veronica, and Brigette as the colors. I topped random places with Copper Pearl, Sheer 24K Sparkle, Gold Shimmer, and Raspberry Sparkle. I topped everything with a swipe of Seche Vite.
I am absolutely in love. The creme’s are on coaters, the effects absolutely transform all of the shades so you have at least twice as many options, and everything dries really quickly. I can’t wait to do more designs with the effects showcased because they’re gorgeous. The Sheer 24K Sparkle is a gold flakie effect from this Fall/Winter 2011 collection and paired with Midnight Sapphire it’s especially spectacular.
So tell me what you think… do you like the fall shades? What are your favorites? I’d never experienced any other CND’s so tell me which ones you think I should try!
The polishes in this post were sent to me for consideration and review by the manufacturer. For further information, please see my disclosure statement.
I’m not the best with swatching since I usually get impatient and want to do a design, so of course I did a skittle version for you of the new Dr.’s RemedySummer Collection! The colors were WOW and I can’t wait to do a design with them- really!!!
I loved all of these shades but they surprised me. In the bottle I thought I’d like Tranquil Tangerine the most and while I do love it, I loved LOVELY Lavender on the nail the best. And I’m not big on purple so that’s saying something! All of these were two coats. The formula was very smooth and application went well. The only downside is that they take a bit to dry without a fast dry topcoat- but we all use one of those, don’t we!
The blue, gold and tangerine were metallics, the lavender is a creme, and the nude is a creme with a light pink shimmer, which is truly lovely. They’ll be great for my nail art and for you to wear on their own!!! Dr.’s Remedy is known for being b3f and for being vitamin and protein enriched!
Most of you already know about the show “The Nail Files” on TV Network. If you don’t, you should! Its a funny, easy-going, and sassy reality TV show about The Painted Nail- yes- A NAIL SALON REALITY TV SHOW! Woot!
The Painted Nail teamed up with Nubar to create some new polishes and I am lucky enough to show you a few of them! You know I’m terribly impatient with full hand swatches, so I fit three polishes on one hand on a makeshift skittle swatching… thing. :)
The index finger and the middle finger are Love My Louby’s. The ring finger and pinky are Legendary Lavender. The thumb is Silver Screened.
I LOVED The formula on these- it was like applying butter- I really do appreciate a good brush too- gotta love Nubar for the brush and the handle. The colors were the bomb over all- I rarely like purple but I’m loving this one and I am a red-aholic so Love My Louby’s stole my heart before it was even out of the bottle. The surprise for me was Silver Screened. It looks pink in the bottle but its sheer and glittery on the nail. The only downside for me was that these are all three coats. Since Love My Louby’s is a jelly, that’s totally understandable, and the other two are glitter suspended in jelly- so again, totally okay with it. I’m freaking out though because I can’t wait to see the other colors in the line! They dried quickly (as Nubar does) and to be honest, I can’t really complain since I used three coats! They are fab! Well done Katie!
The Nail Files airs on the TV Guide Network on Tuesdays at 10pm ET and PT
