Whohoo Springtime’s Almost Here…. NOT

When I was a kid, Easter was one of my favorite all time holidays, even though we weren’t religious. My brother and I would search for our baskets in the morning and do easter egg hunts for eggs filled with quarters and it was a blast. I even had an animated bunny that would sing “I’m hopping, yes indeed, I’m not stoppin’, no siree, this is my favorite time of year, uh huh, I’m hopping, yes indeed, Whohoo! Springtime’s almost here!” that I played all winter long.

Well. Today, on April 5th, it snowed. Its not like Spring and its not almost here. I desperately need that bunny to sing me the song since well, the weather SUCKS! I can’t WAIT to be in Sunny Atlanta- I have 6 more weeks, but Rafik is going down, well, NOW, so he gets to enjoy some sun for me.

It’s early for an easter egg design, but come on here, work with me, I’m WILLING Spring to head my way! And too, you all said you wanted spring designs, so here ya go! PS, this is one of those designs that is really detailed and looks better if you click on it to zoom in :-)

For this manicure I used OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, What’s With the Cattitude, Alpine Snow, Gargantuan Green Grape, Greenwich Village, Mrs. O’ Leary’s BBQ, Suzi Loves Cowboys, San Tantonio, Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow, The IT Color, Suzi Says Feng Shui, Chop-Sticking To My Story, Step Right Up!, You’re Such a Kabuki Queen, and then I topped off with a coat of Seche Vite.

So enjoy your warm weather for me if you’re in a nice sunny place, and if not, well, lets commiserate together. :-P

Everyday, Zen’s The Way

A close family member of mine gave me this amazing book a few weeks ago called Everyday Zen by Charlotte Joko Beck. Its been amazingly helpful because it has insights you can use every single day. Due to end of college/beginning of life stress, you better believe that its been great to have on hand. So, today’s design is inspired by the cover- a sand and rock garden….

I used Color Club Sweet seduction as a base with OPI San-Tantonio mixed with OPI Alpine snow sponged on to make the sandy texture (which you can’t see in a picture-only in real life, go figure). Then I used Clarins 103 (Pink Shimmer) over everything to make it look like 3d grains of sand….  I THEN used OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys for the lines in the sand and a mix of OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous, China Glaze Cracked Concrete, OPI Black Shatter, and OPI Alpine Snow for the rocks. Topped off with one coat of Seche Vite and in person, its a wicked 3d sand garden and in pictures, it looks… sort of like one. :-)

Fun Surprise!

So as a quick break from the OPI Art Series (which will continue on Monday) I just wanted to show you my first experience painting someone else’s nails. I had a TA for one of my classes whose kids wanted me to do their nails. Of course I was more excited than even they were, and we finally were able to make it happen yesterday. The best part is that their dad surprised them, so they had no idea that I was coming! Dylan and Angie (who are amazing kids) wanted Scooby Doo nails and something cool and fun for a design, respectively. Clearly, since I thought I had everything prepared, I forgot my camera and some other stuff when going over there, but we made it work- we ended up with these designs:

Scooby Doo Nails: Color Club Charity Ball and Uptown Girl for Scooby, OPI Black Onyx For the Spots, China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise for the collar and OPI Fiercely Fiona for the tag.

For Angie’s Shooting Stars, we used OPI Dating a Royal as a base, the star glitter from Nicole By OPI’s Lets Get It Star-ted for the stars, and China Glaze Atlantis for the streaks behind them.

I know I had a blast and I hope they did too!
