Fun Surprise!

So as a quick break from the OPI Art Series (which will continue on Monday) I just wanted to show you my first experience painting someone else’s nails. I had a TA for one of my classes whose kids wanted me to do their nails. Of course I was more excited than even they were, and we finally were able to make it happen yesterday. The best part is that their dad surprised them, so they had no idea that I was coming! Dylan and Angie (who are amazing kids) wanted Scooby Doo nails and something cool and fun for a design, respectively. Clearly, since I thought I had everything prepared, I forgot my camera and some other stuff when going over there, but we made it work- we ended up with these designs:

Scooby Doo Nails: Color Club Charity Ball and Uptown Girl for Scooby, OPI Black Onyx For the Spots, China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise for the collar and OPI Fiercely Fiona for the tag.

For Angie’s Shooting Stars, we used OPI Dating a Royal as a base, the star glitter from Nicole By OPI’s Lets Get It Star-ted for the stars, and China Glaze Atlantis for the streaks behind them.

I know I had a blast and I hope they did too!

Hey all of you cool cats. Sorry I’ve been MIA- like I said, finals, holidays, (really really short nails that are completely embarrassing since they all broke off during Thanksgiving), have been making it tough to post. After December 10th, I SWEAR I’ll pick up the pace again. I just don’t have time for nails when I have so much to do! I hope ya’ll understand. Anyway I just wanted to share with you all a really neat giveaway that Color Club is doing on their Facebook page. Here’s what they posted on November 29th. Oh The Weather Outside is Frightful

Hey everyone. Long time no see, right? Let me first start off by filling you in on what’s been going on lately and why I haven’t been posting. Here in the US we had Thanksgiving, which requires a bit of preparation, baking, cooking, cleaning, traveling, etc. and as a result, I haven’t had much free time. Add on top of that school work, regular work, and oh yeah, my computer doesn’t turn on…. and you get…. my lack of posting! I’m lucky enough that my computer will be fixed in the next week or two and until then, my dad was super kind and lent me his laptop. Even so, its harder to post when you don’t have your own computer- it just feels… weird.

Anyway, I’ve also been doing lots of stuff around the apartment to get ready for the holidays and the end of my last fall semester (only the spring semester to go before graduation!) like cleaning, organizing, and putting up the Christmas lights on our balcony. It was a tradition every year that after Thanksgiving my dad and I would decorate the house with an obscene amount of likes (we’re talking thousands here) and so, even though I’m not living at home anymore, I still put up lights every year. Hence, today’s design, which by the way, I hate. I was going for tangles of Christmas lights (because anyone whose decorated their house/home with lights knows, the more you need them organized, the more knotted they are) but it didn’t turn out how I wanted. BUT Rafik liked it, so I am posting it….

With Your Nails All A-Glow
For this manicure, I started with one coat of Color Club’s Smooth Operator and one coat of OPI’s Black Onyx as a base. I used OPI Alpine Snow under all of the colors so they wouldn’t be lost in the black (which is why it came out messy, I usually do this better) and then I used all OPI Jade Is The New Black, Ski Teal We Drop, Chop-Sticking To My Story, Cabana Banana, You’re Such A Kabuki Queen, and Quarter of A Cent-ury for the lights and wires. I then topped off with one coat of Color Club Speedy.
So, I hope you like the concept, even if the design didn’t come out quite right. I’ll do my best to post frequently even during the holidays, but being that life is pretty busy right now, I can’t promise a daily post. I hope you all understand :-)
