My Vision’s Gone Dotty!

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and since its close (okay, I start counting down again from November 1st, so to me, its close) I had to do a manicure of the Halloween Trick or Treat Staple- DOTS! In my neighborhood growing up, you couldn’t hit one house without scoring yourself a pack of these chewy gooey delicious little gems. So, in honor of the upcoming day:

Don’t Be A “Not”… Have A Dot!!

For this manicure, I started out with one coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat and two coats of Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud on every finger except the thumb, where I used three coats of OPI’s The IT Color. I then proceeded to use OPI’s The It Color for the yellow dots, OPI’s Chop-Sticking To My Story for the Orange Dots, Nina Ultra Pro’s Salsa for the green dots, Essie’s A-List for the red dots, and a mix of A-List and Lavender Cloud for the pink dots. I used Orly’s La Playa for the Blue lettering and highlighed everything with Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud. I finished up with two coats of Seche Vite.

I love this manicure but it hurts my teeth just looking at it!

Also, I promised you a surprise (on Twitter) and here it is! I tend to… spill… acetone and nail polish (occasionally) on Rafik’s and my coffee table (with two end tables it was $20 so I’m not dying out of guilt but I felt pretty bad), My dad must be cringing if he’s reading this- this isn’t the first table I ruined (which explains why nail polish was banned to the bathroom when I was growing up :-[]) So, being the supportive man Rafik is, he agreed to let me paint the top instead of being upset! That way, I can get paint on it ON PURPOSE! I had totally different ideas for this, but I like how it turned out.

The table itself is all black and very geometric, so I love how it turned out because the color ends right at the top edge so it looks kind of neat.

What do you think?

Pharoh Pharoh!

September 12th, 2010 (tomorrow) is Rafik’s and my 2 year anniversary, so to prevent myself from spending allllll day on a design for him tomorrow, I spent allll day on a design for him today! He was born and partly raised in Egypt and so I felt like doing an Egyptian themed design for him. He also got me onto watching Desperate Housewives (which he’ll say I have to remove that fact from this post but I won’t) and in the introduction, they have a great Egyptian scene. It must be fate because it made for a cool nail design!

Happy Anniversary, Hayati!

For this manicure, I started of with a (new) coat of Orly’s Bonder base coat (sold out of OPI!!!! :-() followed by two coats of Essie’s Body Language. I then dabbed on China Glaze Twenty Four K for the patina look. I used OPI’s Espresso Your Style! for the brown, Sally Hansen’s Rapid Red for red, Orly’s Enchanted Forest for green, Orly’s La Playa for blue, Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud for white, and two coats of Seche Vite Top Coat to finish.

Just as a side note: While I like Orly usually, and Orly Bonder is okay, I prefer the OPI base coat because my polishes dry super fast over it. Then, the seche dries rock hard. With Orly Bonder, it took MUCH longer to dry the polishes, and as a result, even after I applied Seche, the manicure was gummy for a while. ┬áBy the time I write this up, my nails are usually rock hard with OPI base coat, but with Orly base coat, I actually ruined the pharoh’s hair (it’s fixed now) by dinging it. So the verdict? I like Orly but OPI has my heart.

But Rafik REALLY has my heart. So happy anniversary, Hayati!

Also!!! We’ll be having another giveaway when we get to 150 followers!!! So spread the word to your friends and family because you know it will be good!

What Are You Searching For?

I was playing with the neat Google search screen for a while today and I couldn’t for the life of me come up with a design. I decided to open up my browser, click on a random bookmark with my eyes closed, and that is what I would do for my nails. Go figure, I missed the bookmark bar and it stayed on the search window. That’s when it hit me, sometimes, what you’re searching for is right in front of you!

For this manicure, I used one coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat and two coats of Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud as a base (sorry for any bubbles, I dropped the polish right before painting). I then used Orly La Playa for blue, Essie A-List for red, OPI’s The It Color for Yellow, Icing’s Envy for green, and Wet N Wild Black Creme for the “TM” finally topping off with two coats Seche Vite.

This is a fun one! Hopefully, you found what you were looking for by checking out my nail art- your daily dose of creativity!!!
