The Painted Nail

Most of you already know about the show “The Nail Files” on TV Network. If you don’t, you should! Its a funny, easy-going, and sassy reality TV show about The Painted Nail- yes- A NAIL SALON REALITY TV SHOW! Woot!

The Painted Nail teamed up with Nubar to create some new polishes and I am lucky enough to show you a few of them! You know I’m terribly impatient with full hand swatches, so I fit three polishes on one hand on a makeshift skittle swatching… thing. :)

The index finger and the middle finger are Love My Louby’s. The ring finger and pinky are Legendary Lavender. The thumb is Silver Screened.

I LOVED The formula on these- it was like applying butter- I really do appreciate a good brush too- gotta love Nubar for the brush and the handle. The colors were the bomb over all- I rarely like purple but I’m loving this one and I am a red-aholic so Love My Louby’s stole my heart before it was even out of the bottle. The surprise for me was Silver Screened. It looks pink in the bottle but its sheer and glittery on the nail. The only downside for me was that these are all three coats. Since Love My Louby’s is a jelly, that’s totally understandable, and the other two are glitter suspended in jelly- so again, totally okay with it. I’m freaking out though because I can’t wait to see the other colors in the line! They dried quickly (as Nubar does) and to be honest, I can’t really complain since I used three coats! They are fab! Well done Katie!

The Nail Files airs on the TV Guide Network on Tuesdays at 10pm ET and PT

Going Green Part DEUX

WOW Its been a while! I have the card adapter, some (little) free time and so I decided it was time to make good on my promise to you about a work friendly design! I have the Going Green art for you today, since its been weeks and weeks since I actually did this design:

I was going for a work friendly and yet fresh design. First is a coat of OPI Natural Nail Base Coat. This is two coats of OPIs Mermaids Tears, followed by OPI Spark de Triomphe for the moon, OPI Stranger Tides for the moon outline, and OPI I Juggle… Men over Mermaids Tears for the rest of the nail. Topped with two coats Seche Vite. You can’t see it in the picture but it more glimmers than glitters and it was very subtle on the nail. I’m looking to do more work appropriate nail art in the future for ya’ll, with more details but still subtle, so if you have any requests, let me know!

And I have another design for you which I did today as a hint about a new special little “thing” coming up for ya’ll. You’ll have to wait and see what will be in store for you, but I promise, it will be rockin’!

I’m a big fan of abstract designs and so I tried out a lined design today. I started with a coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat, two coats of Nicole By OPI Yellow, It’s Me. The red lines are Nicole By OPI’s OMB!, the orange are OPI Fresh Squeezed, and the glitter is Nicole By OPI Brilliant Idea. Then everything is outlined in Nicole By OPI Razzle Dazzler. Topped with two coats of Seche Vite.

This look was supposed to be more spring-y but with the black, it completely reminds me of the seventies for some reason, like a couch or something! I like it but I was thinking of something different. The star in this design is Yellow, It’s Me, which is a great yellow with a fine pink microshimmer. That way, its yellow without making your hands look stained.

Some of the products in this post were sent to me for consideration and review by the manufacturer. For further information, please see my disclosure statement.

OPI Art Series Final Day and Reaching Out

Today is a bittersweet day; its the last installment of the OPI Art Series. Firstly, I just want to say a special thank you to Crista over at OPI for helping me to obtain corporate art for the series and for all of the spectacular work she does. Secondly, there is hope for an OPI Art Series part II in the future though I can’t say when, as Crista sent me a ton of artwork and I just need to find out how to translate some more of it onto the nail while fitting it into my schedule now that classes start up on Monday.

Today’s design is a special one since it was the first piece of art that I saw on the OPI Facebook Page which in fact inspired the Art Series. I’m happy with it and I hope that you enjoy it as well!

For this design, I used OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, Alpine Snow, The IT Color, Simply Smashing, The Show Must Go On, Take The Stage, Jade Is The New Black, Black Onyx and Nicole By OPIPrized Possession Purple, Me + Blue, My Lifesaver, Miss Independent, Got Style?, and the hearts from Step 2 The Beat of My <3

Onto more serious matters:

I just want to take a minute to reach out to all of you, my lovely readers, for some help. I graduate in May from Cornell University, and our apartment lease is up 2 days after that. Upon graduation, Rafik and I will have to move and start our “real world” lives. Rafik and I are desperately trying to find jobs but we’ve both come up empty thus far. We’ve decided that we really both like Atlanta, Georgia. I (will) have a Bachelors of Science for Atmospheric Science and he (also a Cornell grad) has a Bachelors of Science for Applied Economics and Management (Business/Accounting/Finance/Marketing etc). I was hoping that if any of you have any contacts or friends in these arenas or this location, you’d find it in your heart to perhaps put us in contact? We’ve both been scouring the internet for careers and we’re both exhausting our resources. We’ll continue to look day and night but sometimes a personal connection is the best. We’re both extremely hard working and motivated and we’re willing to take entry level positions that fit our backgrounds and education. Its SO nerve-wracking not knowing where we’re going to be, what we’re going to do, or how we’re going to get there and we would both greatly appreciate your help. If you know anyone NOT it Atlanta but anywhere on the Eastern half of the U.S., that’s an option too. I really and truly appreciate any information you might have for us because I’m getting to the point where its my last semester and I just have no idea what to do! I like spontaneity for some things, but for a future life plan, I’d really sleep better knowing what we’re going to do. So, THANK YOU in advance in the case that you have any information for me, and thanks for reading through my plea for your help.
