You See, I See, We See CND

I was really excited to get my hands on some beautiful colors and effects by CND recently. I’ve never previously been able to play with their products so I couldn’t wait- and let me tell you they didn’t disappoint!

I did a quick stucco/abstract design that reminded me a bit of another quick design I did ages ago but hestitated on posting. Regardless, I really enjoyed working with these shades. Let me just say that I used a bunch of effects but you can’t see much of them here because of the angle and as such, I’ll be doing ANOTHER, much more refined design with these polishes in the very near future!

For this design I used OPI Nail Envy as a base, followed by an amazing one coater of CND Miss Wu. I then used a small brush (But NOT my regular one- don’t want to ruin it) to sort of sponge/smudge different shades on. I used (all CND) Midnight Sapphire, Scarlet Letter, Plumville, Dark Amethyst, Raisin in the Sun, Veronica, and Brigette as the colors. I topped random places with Copper Pearl, Sheer 24K Sparkle, Gold Shimmer, and Raspberry Sparkle. I topped everything with a swipe of Seche Vite.

I am absolutely in love. The creme’s are on coaters, the effects absolutely transform all of the shades so you have at least twice as many options, and everything dries really quickly. I can’t wait to do more designs with the effects showcased because they’re gorgeous. The Sheer 24K Sparkle is a gold flakie effect from this Fall/Winter 2011 collection and paired with Midnight Sapphire it’s especially spectacular.

So tell me what you think… do you like the fall shades? What are your favorites? I’d never experienced any other CND’s so tell me which ones you think I should try!

Trippy Hippy Dippy

I wanted to do a fall colors design that was unusual today. So I did! :D Its a bunch of earth colors and its meant to be a little scattered and abstract….

I started with OPI Nail Envy, then two coats of French Quarter For Your Thoughts with Alpine Snow sponged over it. I then used Road House Blues, Alpine Snow, Uh Oh Roll Down The Window, and Golden Rules for the designs. I sponged some Golden rules and as it got tacky I pushed some lines into it with a clear piece of plastic for some texture. It’s topped with Seche Vite.

Keep the nominations for the Palette Awards coming! I’ve already gotten to check out some truly lovely blogs and I’d love to see more! No blog is excluded from this and the more the merrier! Nominate your favorites, your own, your friends’, or ones you’ve stumbled on passing through!

Linear Lineup

I wanted to try out some lovely polishes that I received as gifts in a nail art design, but I don’t know if I love it or hate it. First, my dear friend Katie gave me OPI Black Satin, a vhtf (very hard to find) polish that is gorgeous. its almost a blackened gray frost but its anything but a regular frost. I wanted to see if I layered another gift, made by my friend Lori and given to me by my dear friend Jeanie would jazz it up even more… a linear holographic topcoat. It did and it came out absolutely gorgeous. But, I wasn’t done and this is where the trouble started. I wanted to try OPI’s new shade My Address Is Hollywood, but I didn’t know how to make it look nice with a gray holo, so I added OPI’s The IT Color, and both ended up covering up more of the base than I intended. Regardless, I still LOVE the base polishes and eh, I’ll take it off tomorrow and do another design. :) I hope you like it though!

For this design I started with OPI Natural Nail Base Coat and two coats of OPI Black Satin. I then topped with one coat of Lori’s special Spectraflair Topcoat and then did lines with OPI’s new shade My Address Is “Hollywood” and OPI’s The IT Color. Topped with Seche Vite and this is what you have!

I will be using all of these shades in the future (hopefully separately!) to give you a better idea of how gorgeous they all are. My Address is “Hollywood” isn’t just a flat creme, but as with many of the new shades in the Touring America Collection, it has a subtle shimmer that I love oh-so-much!

Thank you Katie and Jeanie!
