Curiouser and Curiouser!

Today I was honored with one of the ten winning nail art entries in OPI’s Go Goth Giveaway on their Facebook page. Since my nail design was the Nightmare Before Christmas that I posted about on the 27th of September, by the beloved Tim Burton, I wanted to do another Tim Burton design. I decided on Alice In Wonderland, but I rather wanted to do the cartoon version since it was more nail artsy, so its a tribute to Lewis Carroll, too!

I’m Late, I’m Late, I’m Late!!!

For this manicure, I started out with two coats of Color Club’s Smooth Operator Ridge Filling Base Coat.

For the thumb (ALICE) , I used two coats of China Glaze Snow as a base. I then used a mix of Snow and Color Club’s Best Dressed List for the skin tone, a mix of Snow and OPI’s The IT Color for the hair, China Glaze’s Snow for the eyes and apron, Sinful Colors Black On Black for the outlines, and Nina Ultra Pro’s Bossa Nova for the eye centers and the collar.

For the index finger (THE WHITE RABBIT), I used two coats of Nina Ultra Pro’s Bossa Nova as a base. I used China Glaze Snow for the white, a mix of Color Club’s She’s So Glam and Snow for the eyes and ears, Color Club’s Ms. Socialite for the eye centers and nose, Sinful Colors Black on Black for the outlines, and a mix of Bossa Nova and Snow for the spectacles.

For the middle finger(THE DISAPPEARING CHESHIRE CAT), I used two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black as a base, Color Club’s Ms. Socialite as the face, Color Club’s She’s So Glam for the lighter pink on the face and the stripes after the rest of the body has disappeared, Color Club’s Uptown Girl for the darker purple stripes on the paws, Color Club’s Charity Ball for the tongue, China Glaze’s Snow for the teeth, OPI’s The IT Color for the yellow eye centers, and Black on Black to outline.

For the ring finger (THE MAD HATTER), I used two coats of Nina Ultra Pro’s Bossa Nova as a base. I used Nina Ultra Pro’s Salsa for the hat, Salsa mixed with Sinful Colors Black on Black for the dark green stripe, OPI’s The IT Color and China Glaze Snow for the 10/6 card in the brim of the hat, a mix of Color Club’s She’s So Glam, Color Club’s Best Dressed List, and China Glaze’s Snow for the pink skin, Color Club’s Charity Ball for the dark lines on the face, China Glaze’s Snow for the white details and Sinful Colors Black on Black for the outlines. I used a mix of Bossa Nova and Snow for the tie.

For the pinkie (DRINK ME SHRINKING BOTTLE), I used two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black as a base. I used a mix of China Glaze’s Frosty and Nina Ultra Pro’s Bossa Nova for the bottle, Color Club’s She’s So Glam for the placard, China Glaze’s Snow for the outlines, and Sinful Colors Black on Black for the “Drink Me.”

I topped off with two coats of Color club’s 0-60 Speedy Top Coat. So far, so good with the top coat, it still behaves like Seche Vite, so I am pretty darn sure I’ve been converted and the ridge filling base is a godsend since my nails are so uneven.

Whew!

So Happy unbirthday, and be what you aren’t, so that when you aren’t what you are, you’ll be what you weren’t when you were….

Some of the products in this post were sent to me for consideration and review by the manufacturer. For further information, please see my disclosure policy.

This Is Halloween, This Is Halloween

I was always one of those kids who had to snoop for presents at Christmas because I hated waiting for Christmas Day. I’m still to this day one of those people who get so excited about giving someone something that I think they’ll like- so I usually spill the beans on what it is before the actual holiday. As such, is it any wonder that the design I wanted to save for Halloween Night would be done before it even was October? I wanted to do this design for so many reasons…. and so, I gave in and did it today!!!

You A Gamblin’ Man, Santy?
For this manicure, I started off with one coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat and two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black as a base. I then used ALLL of these colors for the details:
I then topped off with two coats of Seche Vite Top Coat. Whew!
So, are you as excited for Halloween as I am????

ALSO! I in fact had more than one request for my Kiss My Ras(s)pberry franken recipe so here it is!
I started with one bottle of Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Quick Clear. I added about half of a container of Fantasy Makers Confetti (made by the same people that own Wet N Wild and I bought it in my supermarket as part of their Halloween display for like, $3)
I mixed all of the glitter in and tested the formula for glitter density, and then added about a 1/5th of a bottle of Nina Ultra Pro’s Love Struck (just got it on clearance at Sally’s for $1.99 and had to figure out the name). I mixed for several minutes and bam! Kiss My Ras(s)pberry was born. I also added a tiny bit (maybe 5 or so drops) of a Fantasy Maker’s hot red mini that I have, no name. But any red would do I suppose.

You’re A Talented One…. Dr. Seuss!

One fish two fish red fish blue fish… you’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch, I do not like green eggs ham I do not like them, Sam I Am…

We all know (and love) Dr. Seuss!!!! I got a recommendation yesterday in class to do Dr. Seuss for today’s nails and I couldn’t help but agree- Dr. Seuss was too good of a nail design to pass up!!!

A Collection of Caricatures

For this manicure, I started off with one coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat. I used Nina’s Ultra Pro in Bossa Nova for the thumb, middle finger, and pinky base, Sally Hansen’s Rapid Red for the index finger base, and Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud for the ring finger base. I then used Sally Hansen’s Rapid Red, Sinful Colors Black on Black, China Glaze’s In The Lime Light, Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud, OPI’s The It Color for the details. I mixed a few to get Horton’s gray and the Grinch’s yellow eyes. I topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

In case you are unaware of what each caricature is: Thumb is the Cat in The Hat, index finger is Bartholomew and the Oobleck, middle finger is Horton Hears A Who, ring finger is the Grinch, and the pinky is One Fish and Red Fish from One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

So, would you like some green eggs with ham?

Please remember to enter my giveaway sponsored by Color Club! One lucky winner will take home their newest collection- Bewitching!!! :-) Happy Painting.
