Illamasqua Has Holiday Spirit

Hey everybody, I just wanted to show you a few great deals that I stumbled upon recently. Unfortunately, they’re only available in the UK, so all of us in the US don’t have the opportunity to pick them up from the website, but Illamasqua has some great holiday nail polish duo sets for the upcoming season. And the best part is that they are cheaper as a set than separately, so you can save some cash and use it on holiday gifts for loved ones (or more nail polish for yourself hehe)

First up is the Red Christmas Nail Varnish Duo:

This duo includes Untold and Ruthless, which are perfect reds for the holidays. You save £6 by buying them together. The set retails on the Illamasqua website for £20 (plus S&H;).

This duo includes Harsh and DWS, which are two more great shades for the holidays… again by buying them together, you save £6. The set retails on the Illamasqua website for £20 (plus S&H;).
And while we’re on an Illamasqua love fest, I figured I’d share with you the new hit nail product from them, nail quills!
They were inspired by pen quills and they’re really and truly unique. They’re hand made and only available for a limited time, so for £35 (plus S&H;), they’re well worth it. I’m pretty sure that these are available internationally on the website, but you should double check to see if they ship to you before you place an order.

You May Delay, But Time Will Not. – Ben Franklin

Being that yesterday marked the end of Daylight Savings Time, I felt it fitting to do clocks for today’s design. This was a quick design because go figure, I didn’t have a lot of time for it… haha. I had a busy day that included cleaning the apartment (with Rafik’s help- he’s so wonderful) reorganizing polish stuffs, getting a pea sized chunk of glass stuck in my foot (ow), having said pea sized glass chunk taken out which was really painful (double ow), updating swap items and setting up new swaps, getting lots of school work done, and spending time with Rafik and Kitties. Whew, even though I “gained” an extra hour, I’m pooped and now its time for the clocks…

Tick Tock Tick Tock
For this manicure, I started out with one coat of Color Club’s Smooth Operator as a base. I then used China Glaze Frosty, Illamasqua’s Boosh, CQ’s Tahitian Green, CQ’s Gem Green, and Color Club High Society as bases (two coats on all except for Boosh and High Society, which only needed one). For the thumb, I used boosh, Zoya America, and China Glaze Snow. For the index finger, I layered America over Snow. For the last three I used Boosh and Snow for details, and on the pinky I sponged on some Charity Ball and Bess Dressed list before the details. I topped off with one coat of Color Club’s Speedy and wham bam thank you ma’am I was done.
I just want to say a quick blurb about CQ and then I’ll get out of your hair. I love the formula, I love the shades, I love the price. I’m especially in love with Gem Green because its so shimmery that its almost holographic. I will do a swatch of it in the near future for you because its so spectacular. And yeah, under $2? I’m game. The picture doesn’t show ANY of its beauty.
Also just want to blurb about Boosh again- I’m so in love with this black. I save it for special occasions (not nail art, just full black nails) because I don’t want to waste it! I used it here because I grabbed the first black I saw, and I was reunited with that lusty, warm feeling in my stomach after using it.
Okay. Done. PS, nail art contest is ending Friday, you’re running out of TIME! :-)

I C U and a Little Treat

Quick design today since I spent the better part of two hours fighting my computer…. dealing with lots of programming mumbo jumbo- I won’t bore you but if you’re interested jot me an email. This is (obviously? Not so obviously?) supposed to be scary monster eyes staring out from the dark at you… ready to make you scream!

  C U
Haha, get it? I see you? Yeah well, I thought it was funny. For this (very) quick manicure, I started out with two coats of Color Club’s Smooth Operator and one coat of Illamasqua’s Boosh as a base. I then used OPI’s The IT Color, Zoya’s America, OPI’s On Collin’s Ave, Nina Ultra Pro’s Bossa Nova, Nina Ultra Pro’s Salsa, and OPI’s Chop-Sticking To My Story for the eyes, putting another dab of Boosh for the pupils of most. The pupils of the big eyes are just Boosh and another dot of America. I topped off with one coat of Color Club’s 0-60 Speedy Top Coat.
The reason for my rush today is that I REALLY wanted to show you these fantabulous glitters from Color Club’s Enchanted Holiday Mini Set. I saved the decals, star glitters, and rhinestones for when I wear them as actual nail art- I didn’t want to waste them on just a quick swatch post! I promise I’ll do a neat-o design with these shades and their nail art accessory counterparts closer to the holidays.
Color Club’s Enchanted Holiday Collection

I LOVE Color Club because it is the company with the most one coat wonders for me. I used one slightly medium/thicker coat just because that’s how I roll, but you could definitely use two super (emphasis on SUPER) thin coats and get full coverage and long lasting wear. These shades are SO glitter dense- packed with sparkly goodness! Whoooieee!! I love them!

From L-R (coats) Wishlist Red (1), Magic Elf (1), Enchanted Holiday (1), Snowflakes (1)
Wishlist Red is a red jelly with red glitter and its so scrumptuous that in person, its so hot you might start a fire!

Magic Elf is a green shimmer with a gold flash. The formula on both Magic Elf and Wishlist Red were extremely smooth with even coverage and fast drying time.

Enchanted Holiday is a dense gold glitter in a clear base. THIS IS ONE COAT!!!! I couldn’t believe it!!! You’ll want to use a top coat since its all glitter so it dries slightly bumpy.

Snowflakes looks like that iridescent sparkle that you see right after a night of heavy snow, where the sun reflects off of the ground and blinds you (in a good way). It’s a translucent white polish that is so glitter packed that it dries super quick and tends to be on the thick side- but not in a bad way. You can place it wherever you like and it dries rock hard. You’ll want a top coat again here because it’s a bit bumpy.

You’d think that cleanup would be a bit…. difficult, but to be honest, I let these dry completely and after five seconds of holding a cotton ball on top, they slid right off! Such easy cleanup; these definitely are some of my favorite glitters this season.

This mini collection is already available at etailers like and as well as Bed Bath and Beyond, Duane Reade and Harmons.

Some of the products in this post were sent to me for consideration and review by the manufacturer. For more information, please read my disclosure statement.
