The Painted Nail

Most of you already know about the show “The Nail Files” on TV Network. If you don’t, you should! Its a funny, easy-going, and sassy reality TV show about The Painted Nail- yes- A NAIL SALON REALITY TV SHOW! Woot!

The Painted Nail teamed up with Nubar to create some new polishes and I am lucky enough to show you a few of them! You know I’m terribly impatient with full hand swatches, so I fit three polishes on one hand on a makeshift skittle swatching… thing. :)

The index finger and the middle finger are Love My Louby’s. The ring finger and pinky are Legendary Lavender. The thumb is Silver Screened.

I LOVED The formula on these- it was like applying butter- I really do appreciate a good brush too- gotta love Nubar for the brush and the handle. The colors were the bomb over all- I rarely like purple but I’m loving this one and I am a red-aholic so Love My Louby’s stole my heart before it was even out of the bottle. The surprise for me was Silver Screened. It looks pink in the bottle but its sheer and glittery on the nail. The only downside for me was that these are all three coats. Since Love My Louby’s is a jelly, that’s totally understandable, and the other two are glitter suspended in jelly- so again, totally okay with it. I’m freaking out though because I can’t wait to see the other colors in the line! They dried quickly (as Nubar does) and to be honest, I can’t really complain since I used three coats! They are fab! Well done Katie!

The Nail Files airs on the TV Guide Network on Tuesdays at 10pm ET and PT

Abby Inspired

Many of you know Tracey of Ginger Kitty Designs. I was inspired to try one of her nail polish ring designs on my nails today, since I’m still a bit sick (though getting better), but I had some other stuff to do so I didn’t have quite enough time for a real art design.

The ring on GingerKitty’s Etsy is called the Abby Ring because a woman named Abby inspired it. The ring was created by layering Color Club Revvvolution with Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure. I changed it a bit by layering Nubar 2010 over Glitter Gal Black Holographic because even though I have Revvvolution, I thought the holographic of Black would be stronger. Straight on it reminds me of a galatic star field, but it throws off amazing greens, yellows and oranges in different light.

Now, I love this design SO much, but on my nails, I wouldn’t waste Glitter Gals Black Holographic on it again. Instead I’d just use a flat black because I have to ration the GG black since its so pretty. However, I would definitely use it if I were getting a ring created for that extra oomph. The Glitter Gal Black Holographic is a *phenomenal* one coat wonder of a true black linear holographic, which makes up for the MUCH smaller full size of the Glitter Gal polishes (0.3fl oz) because you’re only using one coat for full coverage. I’m KICKING myself for not taking pictures during the process so you could see, but I didn’t intend on actually posting so it was a bit of a spur of the moment design to even take pictures of the final product.

Since I won Glitter Gal Black and Glitter Gal Red from Konad-licious, I hoped she wouldn’t mind if I put a link to HER swatch of Black. It’s really stunning and her blog is great, so go check her out!

Road Trip!

Rafik and I are headed on a road trip tomorrow morning to visit some family, so I decided I’d do a design today for you that I’ll wear until I get back. Don’t worry, the OPI Art Series isn’t done- it’ll be back when we get back!

I happen to have an unnatural love of peacocks and I was inspired to do today’s design by a waterbottle that my family got me for Christmas. I won’t bother putting up a picture of the bottle because I did a different peacock design, but it was my muse, so to speak.

Flourishes of Feathers

I used OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, OPI Alpine Snow, Zoya Ivanka, Nicole By OPI My Lifesaver, China Glaze Jingle Bells, Revlon Top Speed Royal, and Nubar Peacock Feathers (of course). Topped with two coats of Seche Vite top coat.
