“Sweet” Proposition

I was recently contacted by April of Toffee Creations with a request to paint her toffee on my nails. I couldn’t say no; I love toffee! So today’s design is inspired by her Raspberry Love toffee (mmmm my favorite fruit is raspberry!)

As a quick summary about April and her toffee, they make tons, I mean TONS of flavors of toffee and they never include chocolate because they don’t want to hide the flavors of the toffee behind it! They do parties, events, celebrity gifting, and more! You can buy three different sizes of every size of every flavor of toffee- their biggest portion is $30/pound. You should definitely check out her website!

I’m A Sucker For Sweet Things

For this manicure, I started out with one coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat and two coats of China Glaze’s Platinum Silver as a base, except on the thumb on which I used two coats of Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud. I used Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud for the swirls on the Toffee Creations Bag, OPI’s Espresso My Style, OPI’s Golden Rules, and Nubar’s Unfaithful for the closeup of the toffee on the thumb, those same colors plus Claire’s Neon Pink and Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud for the toffee pieces on the other fingers. I finished with two coats of Seche Vite.

This is supposed to be an image of Raspberry Love in Toffee Creations’ beautiful packaging, with a closeup with a bite taken out of it on the thumb.

So, hungry yet?

Nubar Has Reclaimed The Holo Scene

I was super sick yesterday- I woke up with the worst sinus headache ever and I always get really disoriented and nauseous with headaches (I get them a lot) so I skipped my nighttime design last evening, instead opting for Benedryl and sleep. To hold you over until after lunch time, I figured I throw a little jewel your way. I just received a color that I have been dying to get my hands (and nails) on- Nubar Reclaim. It’s a sage green holo that has had great reviews thus far, so I had to put polish-swatching before eating food. :-)

For this manicure, I used one coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat and two coats of Nubar Reclaim.

This is the best holographic polish I own, hands down.

The color: The sage green of Nubar’s Reclaim is already beautiful enough to make this polish lovable, but oh, it has so many more good qualities! First, it goes on in ONE coat of polish. I used two to see if I would get bald spots, but secondly, it DOESN’T have bald spots. The formula is so smooth and silky that you could use more than one coat if you wanted, but you wouldn’t need to.

Also, its super easy to clean up- no shimmer left behind- and the holographic goodness, oh boy! I’ve seen some more opaque holos (think Color Club’s Revvvolution versus transparent OPI My Private Jet) but usually their holographic finish is subdued. Nubar’s Reclaim has all of the holographic-osity (yes I made that up) of a sheer holo, but without the fuss of a difficult formula. Think of OPI’s Blue Moon Lagoon, but going on opaque in one coat. How cool is that? You don’t need a special base coat for it to go on right- I used my daily based coat with no problems. BIG budget saver there!

Another perk? Most holos don’t last long because you can’t really use a top coat, so they dent, ding, or chip. Well, this one dried hard as a rock and I already caught my polish on my keyboard (notorious smudge potential, usually) and not a scratch. I even purposely tried to ding it with the nails on my other hand, and NOPE. NOTHING!! It’s fantastic polish and I am on the lookout for every other Nubar Holo as a result. In my opinion, while they’re not as holographic as Nfu-Oh, they’re the best holo’s I’ve ever tried. QED.

More to come after sustenance intake. What do you think, did Nubar Reclaim the holo scene, or what?
