Oh Bother…. Thats What Makes It…

Good Eats!!!! (Insert Theme Song In Here)

I happened upon one of my favorite Food Network Shows on hulu.com today and as a tribute, I decided to do the logo!

Good Eats
**If you have never seen Good Eats or are in another country that doesn’t have this show, Image Search on Google “Good Eats” to see the logo :)**

For this manicure, I started with Color Club’s Chip Free Pre Base and two coats of Color Club’s Smooth Operator Tinted Ridge Filler. I then used one coat of Nina Ultra Pro’s Bossa Nova as a base. I used a mix of Bossa Nova and Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud for the diamond background, a mix of Lavender Cloud and Zoya’s Renee for the “G” background, a mix of Bossa Nova and Sinful Colors Black on Black for the background of “ood”, OPI’s The IT Color for the background of the “E”, Sinful Colors Mint Apple for the background of the “ats”, and Black on Black and Lavender Cloud for the lettering.

For the thumb, I used the same base blues, Revlon’s Matte Suede in Powder Puff for the plate, the same mix of blue for the plate details as I used for “ood”, Zoya’s America for the tiny tomato, Claire’s Kelly Green for the tomato leaves, Color Club’s Charity Ball for the hams and bottom tomatoes, Color Club’s High Society for the mushrooms (mixed with Black on Black for the details) and then FINALLY topped off with one coat of Color Club’s 0-60 Speedy Dry Top Coat. After the picture, I used Color Club’s Cuticle Soothe Cuticle Oil.

I love Color Club’s Chip Free Pre Base because it works better than nail polish remover to remove dust and oil from the nail. Luckily, I rarely deal with chips because I change my polish so frequently, but when I wear a shade for an extended period of time, I intend to start with this product and let you know how it holds up.

I’ve used Color Club’s Cuticle Oil before, and let me tell you how thankful I am to have it now. My cuticles are so ripped up from the drilling/picking/acetone soaks, so I wear this all day- once after my morning shower, once before I go to bed, and right after I put on any polish. I’d recommend it up there with Crabtree and Evelyn’s La Source Hand Therapy Lotion and well above Burt’s Bee’s Cuticle Cream. And more? It smells like roasted ALMOND!! YUM!! But… Rafik keeps catching me smelling my fingers….

Some of the products in this post were sent to me for consideration and review by the manufacturer. For further information, please read my disclosure statement.

My Lucky Dragon

Chinese culture has always been intriguing to me- much of it is so ancient!! One aspect which has always had my respect is Chinese mythology….. in particular, the dragon. The dragon is a symbol for greatness, nobility, protection, and power, among many other auspicious characteristics. So, today is Dragon Day! PS it looks waybetter if you zoom in by clicking on the image….

Respect The Dragon
For this manicure, I started out with two coats of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat (out of habit since these are gels) and two coats of Nina Ultra Pro’s Mermaid as a base. I used Sinful Colors Sweet Treat for the dragon skin, OPI’s Golden Rules for the spikes and facial details, Sinful Colors Black on Black for the scales and the other facial details, and a mix of Golden Rules with Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud (outlined the scales) for the underbelly. I topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.
I like this dragon design, but I really didn’t do it justice. Apparently, in China, if you disfigure a dragon image you can get into a ton of trouble. I read that the Nike ad that had a celebrity slaying a dragon was banned for the disrespect it displayed (rightly so!) SO please don’t hurt me for not doing the dragon justice!!!
Trip to NYC tomorrow (getting up at 3am for the drive :-)) so I probably won’t be posting a design tomorrow since we’ll be getting back late. However, if I do, feel free to let me know what you’d like to see. Gracias.
Peace.

I really need music to study, and since I’ve been busy and I let my iPod Touch battery die a while ago, I was happy to get it running again in prep for tomorrow’s heinous exam (9am! Wish me luck!). But of course I needed a study break (wink wink nudge nudge nail art time!!)

Movin’ And Groovin’ To The Beat

For this manicure, (gels) I used two coats of Revlon’s Powder Puff Matte Suede for the thumb base, two coats of Claire’s Neon Green for the index finger base, two coats of OPI’s The IT Color as the middle base, two coats of China Glaze For Audrey for the ring base, and two coats of Sinful Colors Sweat Treat for the pinkie base. I used Sinful Colors Black on Black for the silhouettes and Sally Hansen’s Lavender Cloud for the headphones/ipods. For the apple, I used all of those colors plus Nina Ultra Pro’s Cha-Cha-Cha, a mix of OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark and Lavender Cloud for the purple and Nina Ultra Pro’s Bossa Nova for the blue. I topped off with two coats of Seche Vite.

I know that may people have done the Apple Inc symbol, but I haven’t seen this design out there yet. Thank Rafik for this one since it was completely his idea! He’s my creative backer-upper person…. yeah…
