The Painted Nail

Most of you already know about the show “The Nail Files” on TV Network. If you don’t, you should! Its a funny, easy-going, and sassy reality TV show about The Painted Nail- yes- A NAIL SALON REALITY TV SHOW! Woot!

The Painted Nail teamed up with Nubar to create some new polishes and I am lucky enough to show you a few of them! You know I’m terribly impatient with full hand swatches, so I fit three polishes on one hand on a makeshift skittle swatching… thing. :)

The index finger and the middle finger are Love My Louby’s. The ring finger and pinky are Legendary Lavender. The thumb is Silver Screened.

I LOVED The formula on these- it was like applying butter- I really do appreciate a good brush too- gotta love Nubar for the brush and the handle. The colors were the bomb over all- I rarely like purple but I’m loving this one and I am a red-aholic so Love My Louby’s stole my heart before it was even out of the bottle. The surprise for me was Silver Screened. It looks pink in the bottle but its sheer and glittery on the nail. The only downside for me was that these are all three coats. Since Love My Louby’s is a jelly, that’s totally understandable, and the other two are glitter suspended in jelly- so again, totally okay with it. I’m freaking out though because I can’t wait to see the other colors in the line! They dried quickly (as Nubar does) and to be honest, I can’t really complain since I used three coats! They are fab! Well done Katie!

The Nail Files airs on the TV Guide Network on Tuesdays at 10pm ET and PT

Oh We Want The Funk!!!

Today is a dear friend’s birthday! You may know her as the one who responds to your OPI Facebook posts or from working with her in the past…. its CRISTA!!!!! She actually suggested I do a design from a jug yesterday and what better way to say happy birthday than to do her special design! In hindsight, I would have used Golden Rules because it’s more opaque which means I could have done more detail, but these were the colors she picked!!!

Here is the jug inspiration:

Pardon the reflection and glare- the camera did NOT want to cooperate with Glitzerland, but oh well! I used OPI Nail Envy, OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Black Onyx, OPI Glitzerland, OPI Ski Teal We Drop, OPI Yodel Me On My Cell, OPI Grape, Set, Match, and OPI Rapid Dry top coat.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRISTA! If you know her, you should DEFINITELY say a HBD to her!!!

Jelly Fish Jam

I am going to fess up to something. I love spongebob. I know, I know- I’m a grown adult, but still, Spongebob is awesome and the jokes go right over some kids’ heads! My baby sister loves Spongebob too- especially the Jelly Fish Jam (have to say it’s my favorite, myself). So, when Rafik and I went on an adventure to the Georgia Aquarium this weekend, I was beside myself to see the gorgeous jellyfish on an amazingly stunning cobalt blue background. Needless to say, Rafik took a million pictures and now you have a jellyfish design to look at! By the way, congratulations on getting to my new website domain!

And here’s the inspiration image- a GORGEOUS shot that Rafik captured on his phone:

For this design I started with OPI Nail Envy, then two coats of Revlon Fast Dry in Royal (its my favorite blue- and it DOES NOT STAIN!!!!) and a mix of Wet N Wild Sunny Side Up, Milani Neon Awesome Orange, and OPI Big Hair… Big Nails for the oranges. I also layered some OPI Cabana Banana underneath the body for some pow. Some OPI Alpine Snow to outline and finally I topped off with a coat of Seche Vite and voila! Jellyfish!!!

I’m still working on the design of my new website so please bear with me but it’ll be done soon! <3 Tara The Terror
